Today is an exciting day. So far my plans are to: lie on my sofa, write, play Mario Kart, read and maybe go out and photograph the sunset if it looks good. Despite this relaxed Sunday, it’s still an exciting day. This is because I’m debuting a new blog feature. Yay!
Throughout this year, I’ll be posting a weekly photo feature on Sundays. I hope this will encourage me to take my camera out with me more often and will serve as a more regular ‘diary’ of my week. The main focus is definitely photography, as I want to get into the habit of taking photos regularly and sharing them for feedback.
These will be short blogs, featuring my favourite, or a couple of favourite, pictures that must have been taken in the prior week. I would love comments or feedback on which photo you think is the best, and why, to help me improve and keep taking better photographs.
Practise is important, but feedback is also crucial. Thanks in advance for any comments!
I started this week in Cornwall, finishing up my Christmas break before heading back to work with much of the rest of the UK on Wednesday. One of my goals for this year is to complete a photography project based around ‘the Square Mile,’ which is a colloquial name for the financial district in London. It is also where I work. Taking my camera out during my lunch break is great way to break up the workday, get some fresh air and get creative.
Friday evening was spent prolonging the festive period by going to Christmas at Kew, an extensive light show put on at the botanic gardens. We wanted to go before Christmas, but it was all sold out until January, hence us visiting when Christmas has very much passed. Still great.
This week’s photos are from wandering around the City and the lights at Kew, which were very striking for the most part. Let me know what you think! (Also if anyone has a better title suggestion for this series please let me know, I am stumped).
I’m especially interested to hear any thoughts comparing 2 & 3, 4 & 5 and 6 & 7.
Which photo is your favourite?
